Updates on what we are doing now
Due to the H1N1 crisis, we are forced to leave school by 430pm and not allowed to book any vista lab till recently. So we did had a session on wednesday 15/7 at syn lab together with Zac and Jon. CK has theory lesson and, no information about lizann. But we are assigned to edit the different recording folders.
JOYCE - H2 Zoom 2
LIZANN - H2 Zoom 1
ZAC - Boon Lay folder
JON - Mrt stations folder
CK - Fishery Port and Republic Poly folder
The deadline for the editing is lastest Tuesday 21/7 1159pm. Leader would take actions on those who did not complete their assignments. (not sure what actions. But be prepared. =X)
We are left with editing, 2000 words report, Designing of our disc, archiving of our sounds. We hope to be done by end of this month. Last week would be for some back up days where things might go wrong. =)
Amen.

Rundown of what we've done so far:
Field recording on June 02 Tuesday - location visited, neighbourhood area (boon lay)
Recording this time round was succesful. We recorded the sounds of the bus interchange, the bus screeching, engine sounds of the bus, sounds of people alighting the bus (you can hear the ezlink machine at the back), ambient sounds of the bus interchange, the sounds of someone shouting "offer" selling bread, the sounds of lifts in HDB flats, the sound of the rubbish chute in hdb flats opening and closing, ambient sounds of the area from the 12th storey (buses, construction, etc) and the bell of a ice cream seller on the streets. All members were present.
Field Recording on June 08, Monday - location visited, school area, admiralty park. This was a re-recording of what we have done during the test run done before the holidays. This time round, we were better prepared with the windshield, and with it the sounds were much better (less hum). We first recorded the sounds of the school lift with me(zach), jon, lizann and joyce. Lizann then left and we recorded the night sounds of admiralty park, and we got a really good toad/cricket sound. The toads were singing that night, awashed in with the constant wail of the crickets.
Field Recording on June 12, Friday night to Saturday Morning - Jurong Fishery Port. Preparations were made during the week to be able to gain access to the port to record the sounds. This time round, 3 members went for the recording, Jonathan, Myself, and Joyce. We met at 12am at Boon Lay Mrt, and Jon whisked us off to the port, with all our items. Once there, we recorded the sounds of the fishery port - ships unloading fish, forklifts, shouting workers, styrofoam boxes being dragged here and there, chopping of fish, throwing of ice around, etecetera. It was good but joyce wore the wrong shoes and they absorbed up the fishy water and stunk for the rest of the year.
Post Production on June 17, Wednesday 5pm-930pm. This time round, Jonathan, Lizann, Joyce and I were present. The vista lab were booked, and we sat down with our all our sounds. What we did then was to listen to all of the sounds we've recorded so far, and arrange and rename all of the sounds.
Field Recording on June 19, Friday 845pm - 1130pm. After school and after after-school activities, Lizann, Joyce and myself went to record the sounds of the Mrt. We managed to cover part of the red as well as part of the purple line.
That's all for now.

Today's FYP recording was a dreadful disaster, but it was a good thing as well, because it really slapped us hard in the face enough to realize what fools we have been.
We had decided to record the sounds of Chinatown today, and under that we had listed the sounds of the religious ceremonies in temples. Chun kiat resourcefully brought us to the Sri Mariammam temple, but we came at the wrong time, or the wrong location, because it was as silent and as still as the catacombs of Europe, in the temple.
Before that we were immensely late, due to lack of parking space, sorry ck, the weather was searing hot, we had heavy laptops and were carrying heavy equipment. We were dehydrated, annoyed, yet we tried to keep ourselves in good spirits.
The day was terribly discouraging, because we did not record enough to justify using a whole day at Chinatown. Good sounds we recorded were : 1. the gong, 2. bells at the temple gates.
After this, we realized we had to
1. Rework our list and locations
2. Secure the interviews asap.
Mrt hasn't replied, I'm having a headache, let's all pray for smooth progress in the coming days.
-Zach
